On November 24, colleagues from the Digital Development Center (DDC) of Széchenyi István University held a presentation for the teachers of the Győr-based Kovács Margit German-Language Nationality Primary School, Basic Art School and Applied Arts Vocational Secondary School.
The session focused on how artificial intelligence can make pedagogical work more efficient and creative. Our colleagues introduced various ways in which AI-based tools can simplify teachers’ daily tasks—from grading and differentiated instruction to preparing creative project assignments.
What is AI and what is it good for?
The first part of the presentation offered a comprehensive introduction to how artificial intelligence works and how it can be applied in practice. DDC experts highlighted that AI can support:
-
objective assessment,
-
fast creation or revision of teaching materials,
-
overcoming language barriers,
-
as well as creative and collaborative tasks.
Practical use cases of AI in education
Teachers were shown real examples of how AI can be integrated into everyday schoolwork.
1. Grading tests and assignments
AI can provide pre-evaluation, highlight strengths and areas to improve, and offer suggestions for scoring or feedback.
2. Supporting differentiated instruction
The same content can be reformulated at multiple difficulty levels, making it easier to tailor lessons to students with varying abilities.
3. Lesson material generation
Teachers experienced how AI can:
-
quickly create presentations and worksheets,
-
shorten or expand learning materials,
-
convert content into various formats (e.g., text → PPT → quiz).
4. Creative content and project work
AI can assist in creating:
-
posters,
-
website mockups,
-
application prototypes,
-
digital bulletin boards and student portfolios.
5. Language support
AI tools can help with:
-
natural translations,
-
simplifying texts,
-
generating example sentences,
-
improving pronunciation and reading comprehension.
The presentation generated great interest and offered teachers numerous concrete ideas on how to integrate AI tools into their teaching practices. The DDC remains committed to supporting educational institutions in their digital transition and in exploring innovative teaching methodologies.
