Project Management in Practice: Professional Forum for SMEs Held in Győr

The Hungarian Project Management Association organised a professional forum for small and medium-sized enterprises under the title “Thinking in Projects – Győr.” In addition to practical aspects of project management, the event focused on digitalisation, artificial intelligence and change management. The Digital Development Centre of Széchenyi István University also presented its activities as an exhibitor.

Structured project management and the conscious use of digital technologies are becoming increasingly important for small and medium-sized enterprises as well. These issues were at the heart of the Hungarian Project Management Association’s professional forum “Thinking in Projects – Győr,” hosted by the Győr Innovation Park of Széchenyi István University.

The event was organised by the Hungarian Project Management Association in cooperation with Széchenyi István University, the National Association of Entrepreneurs and Employers, and the Győr-Moson-Sopron County Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The professional programme aimed to present the opportunities offered by project management from a practical perspective, with particular emphasis on digitalisation, the application of artificial intelligence, process management and change management.

“I am convinced that thinking in terms of projects is no longer the privilege of large corporations, but has also become a cornerstone of the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises,” said Albert Molnár, President of the Győr District of the Chamber, in his welcome address.

The Digital Development Centre (DDC) of Széchenyi István University also participated in the professional forum as an exhibitor. This gave participants an opportunity to learn more directly about the Centre’s activities related to digital development, technological innovation and the practical application of university knowledge.

Several presentations and professional discussions explored how modern project management methods and digital technologies can support the day-to-day operations of businesses. Alongside the application of artificial intelligence, the programme addressed structured project and process management, as well as more effective approaches to managing organisational and market changes.

One of the highlights of the programme was the signing of a strategic partnership agreement between Széchenyi István University and the Hungarian Project Management Association. The cooperation covers several areas, including practice-oriented education, talent development, research and development, and international professional relations.

The agreement provides opportunities for PMSZ professionals to contribute to university education, while students can gain practical experience through internships, joint project assignments, thesis projects and topics for student research programmes. The development of new continuing education programmes, micro-credential courses and dual training programmes is also among the planned areas of cooperation.

At the event, Professor Ferenc Friedler, Rector and Vice-Rector for Science of Széchenyi István University, emphasised the importance the University places on preparing students for practical challenges and on translating research results generated at the institution into real-world applications.

Dr Szabolcs Rámháp, Associate Professor at Széchenyi István University, highlighted the importance of the project management mindset. As he explained, project management is not merely a methodology or a set of tools, but a way of thinking that helps make complex tasks more transparent, predictable and manageable.

The professional forum in Győr clearly demonstrated that project management, digitalisation and artificial intelligence are becoming increasingly interconnected in the day-to-day operations of businesses. The event also provided an opportunity for university and business representatives to meet, exchange experiences and establish new professional connections.
