From Technical School to an Engineering Career – Career Taster Presented by DDC Colleagues
At this year’s first Career Taster event at Mobilis, students from SZC Jedlik Ányos Technical School in Győr gained first-hand insight into the world of IT infrastructure and development. Experts from the Széchenyi István University Digital Development Center presented real career paths, while students also received information about further study opportunities at Széchenyi István University. The morning concluded with a creative, Micro:Bit-based interactive workshop.
Real Professional Paths, Authentic Experiences
The Career Taster event, held on February 18, 2026, focused on IT infrastructure and development. During the program, colleagues of the Digital Development Center, Tibor Daliás (Senior IT Specialist) and Csongor Kiss (Junior IT Specialist), introduced their field of expertise and shared their own professional journeys.
Students not only received general information about IT systems operations, but also gained insight into how the knowledge acquired in technical school can be applied in a real, full-time workplace. Through two different career path examples, they could see what development opportunities lie ahead and how a strong professional foundation may even lead to international collaborations – such as participating in the world’s largest cyber defense exercise.
The presentations were followed by an interactive discussion, where students of SZC Jedlik Ányos Technical School in Győr actively engaged, showed strong interest, and asked numerous questions to the speakers.
Further Study Opportunities and University Life
During the event, students received detailed information about the programs offered by Széchenyi István University, the admission system, and the specifics of university life. Participants gained a comprehensive overview of the steps that can lead from technical school studies to an engineering career.
Experience-Based Learning with Mobilis
The morning concluded with an interactive workshop delivered by the Mobilis team. Using Micro:Bit devices, students created their own custom-designed “monster,” brought to life with LEDs and – depending on age group – sound effects.
By combining creative crafting with programming, the activity playfully developed logical thinking, problem-solving skills, and digital creativity.
Career Taster – Experiential Career Orientation
The aim of the Career Taster program is to support 10th–11th grade students who are about to choose a career path by providing reliable, first-hand information to help them make informed decisions about their future. During the program, they can talk to professionals, university students, and interns, participate in presentations and small-group workshops, and gain deeper insight into the key fields of study at Széchenyi István University.
The full program lasts approximately two hours, with a maximum of 35 participants, ensuring a truly personal and interactive experience.
